I don't know homebank, but the answer is "probably." Homebank should
store its data somewhere in your home folder.
Traditionally, it might have been ~/.homebank. Modern software will use
a folder in the XDG hierarchy. [1]
I regularly use software the way you suggest with 'guix shell'. I'd
also be happy to help you set up Guix Home.
