Subject: Warning: Inappropriate imagery posted to our mailing lists
Date: Thu, 17 Sep 2020 22:47:03 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <87a6xo5dx4.fsf@inria.fr> (raw)

Guix,

Inappropriate images and links have been posted today to our mailing
lists under subject “[Guix Logo]: New Design” (also as bug #43472) and
“[IceCat]: IMPORTANT!”; those images were also posted on IRC.

This message is to warn you and to summarize how this happened and
measures we’ve taken; you do not need to reply.

The first time someone posts, they’re put under moderation; a list admin
must clear their moderation bit and subsequent messages go to the list.
The person who sent these messages had first sent a legitimate question,
which is why those other messages reached the list.

We do not tolerate this behavior, which violates our code of conduct:

  https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/guix.git/tree/CODE-OF-CONDUCT

Leo Famulari and the maintainers who were present at the time banned
that person from our IRC channel and mailing lists minutes after that
happened. We’ve also asked the FSF staff in charge of GNU mailing
lists to remove those messages from the archives, though that hasn’t
materialized yet. We’re still discussing other ways we can avoid that
in the future.

We welcome suggestions and feedback to guix-maintainers@gnu.org, a
private alias that reaches the five co-maintainers.

It is our goal as maintainers to make this space friendly and inclusive
to all those who want to participate. This event reminds us that
achieving this goal is a relentless effort.

Ludovic, on behalf on the Guix co-maintainers.
