I don't know this was the cause of your problem, but one line in the 
aliases looks suspicious to me.

 > (aliases
 >                '(("E='SUDO_EDITOR" . "emacsclient -t -a emacs")
 >                  ("e" . "emacsclient -t")))

It seems like you didn't close your single quote in "E='SUDO_EDITOR"
