Hello Guix!

Release progress: week 5.

  • ‘make assert-binaries-available’ reports 92.1% coverage (details
    below), similar to last week.

  • Architectures:

     - i586-gnu: bordeaux.guix is building core packages but ci.guix
       isn’t, due to the fact that the ‘cuirass’ package cannot be
       (cross-)built for GNU/Hurd:

       Probably we’ll postpone that post-release and drop i586-gnu from
       ‘etc/release-manifest.scm’ in the meantime.  Objections?

     - armhf-linux: No progress; can we arrange so that ci.guix at least
       builds these core subset of packages?

     - aarch64-linux: No progress: a few substitutes for these core
       packages are still missing on ci.guix (they are on bordeaux.guix)
       for unclear infrastructure reasons.

     - powerpc64le-linux: No progress: Emacs and Vim are reported as
       missing on ci.guix by ‘make assert-binaries-available’.

  • Installer:

     - Guile-Parted crash is now fixed:
       <https://issues.guix.gnu.org/58732>

     - Patch to report unsupported devices is under review:
       <https://issues.guix.gnu.org/59003#19>

  • Release issue <https://issues.guix.gnu.org/53214> blocked by 5 open
    bugs, down from 6 (it’s unfortunate that mumi doesn’t filter out
    issues that are closed):

    58926 Shepherd becomes unresponsive after an interrupt
    58923 Malformed core dumps on Guix System
    58221 nautilus: Crashes loading KgxNautilus plugin twice (problems with NAUTILUS_EXTENSION_PATH)
    56290 Guix is at version 0, according to "guix --version"
    53594 no matching pattern #<package polkit..

  • Others:

     - Shepherd memory leak appears to be fixed, yay!
