You can use 'invoke' here instead of 'zero?' with 'system*' for the same
effect.

My first guess would be that you need to wrap gaupol with the
environment variable "GI_TYPELIB_PATH". Take a look at the sonata
package in gnu/packages/mpd.scm for an example.
