M-x tty reveals nothing for me. Mode is probably the wrong word. It basically is just running "emacsclient --tty". I sometimes use Emacs in a Linux console, since I like how it looks (also helps in learning the keybindings and actually using them, since it forces me to not use the mouse). I mentioned it, since it changes how the documentation is rendered.
