As suggested, I've created a “wip-check” for this patch.

Yeah the test pass in master.

  $ which cpio
  /bin/cpio

  $cpio --version
  cpio (GNU cpio) 2.11
  Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
