You might remember this discussion from March 2015. https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/guix-devel/2015-03/msg00176.html I proposed to Richard Stallman that we change the name to =E2=80=9CGNU=C2= =A0Shepherd=E2=80=9D and recently got the green light. Rationale: 1. A shepherd looks after sheep (or gnus ;-)), and GNU=C2=A0dmd looks aft= er daemons. 2. =E2=80=9CShepherd=E2=80=9D ends with a =E2=80=98d=E2=80=99, which make= s it a good name for a daemon. 3. It=E2=80=99s a pun in the same spirit as =E2=80=9CGNU Hurd=E2=80=9D. 4. We might even rename =E2=80=98deco=E2=80=99 to =E2=80=98herd=E2=80=99 = because it=E2=80=99s the very command that allows users to herd their daemons. Hope you like it. :-) Ludo=E2=80=99.
