You might be able to alter (guix build-system gnu) without triggering a world rebuild. But I don't know how satisfactory e.g. a #:desktop-entry would be. There are other ways too (say a package property and profile hook), depending on how urgently we need this feature. In any case core-updates is long overdue, so the waiting time should not be too long.
