I know I am a bit late with this reply, but I would still like to share the idea I had while reading this thread. I believe there exists a way to relatively quickly and cheaply get access to more computing power and possibly storage: DistCC + P2P distribution of the data. It could be implemented as system services which individual administrators could decide to enable on their systems. While the immediate result of such implementation is not predictable, I think it is necessary to realize strategies of decentralization and antifragility. I wish I could express these ideas better and contribute something more tangible, but I am currently struggling to organize my personal life. I hope this conceptual seed at least inspires some other out-of-the box ideas. I wish you all the best and thank you for this magical software of Guix. It has already changed my life for the better and it will continue improving it.
