One thing that often trips up newcomers, especially on other distros, is the interaction of =E2=80=98guix environment=E2=80=99 and =E2=80=98.bashrc= =E2=80=99 etc. when it comes to setting environment variables. Often the first experience is =E2=80=9Cw= hy doesn=E2=80=99t =E2=80=98guix environment=E2=80=99 set environment variable= s correctly?=E2=80=9D. The manual does explain this in a footnote=C2=B9 but let=E2=80=99s face it,= people don=E2=80=99t read footnotes and consistently define environment variables = in the =E2=80=9Cwrong=E2=80=9D shell startup file. What can we do about that? Should we invoke the shell such that it sources our =E2=80=98etc/profile=E2=80=99 after its own initialization file= ? Any other ideas? Thanks, Ludo=E2=80=99. =C2=B9 https://guix.gnu.org/manual/en/html_node/Invoking-guix-environment.h= tml#FOOT10
