As far as I know we have a message on every boot which spits an
non-fatal error about mtab.
A while back in Gentoo I asked about this while I experienced it on
their system, and the solution was this:
rm /etc/mtab && ln -s /proc/self/mounts /etc/mtab
is there something special about our mtab file or could we just apply
this?

Strange, now that I'm searching for it I can't find it. As soon as I can
find it I'll reply with it here.
