Agreed. I normally try to look at supported-arch and the like while keeping in mind that hopefully we'll have more architectures in the future. =20 > > It turns out I didn't search gstreamer.scm well enough, so if this patch > > looks good then I'll copy the syntax over to the other packages in > > gstreamer and make patches for them too. > > > > efraim@debian-netbook:~/workspace/guix$ grep \(\"orc\"\ \,orc\) > > gnu/packages/*scm > > gnu/packages/gstreamer.scm: `(("orc" ,orc))) > > gnu/packages/gstreamer.scm: ("orc" ,orc) > > gnu/packages/gstreamer.scm: ("orc" ,orc) > > gnu/packages/gstreamer.scm: ("orc" ,orc))) > > gnu/packages/gstreamer.scm: ("orc" ,orc) =20 >=20 > To be honest, I'm having second thoughts about this entire approach. >=20 > My concern is that without orc, the codec implementations (especially > the video codecs) might be so slow as to be practically unusable. On the other hand, `guix refresh -l orc` shows the gnome metapackage, enlightenment, libreoffice, iceweasel, etc. Other than rhythmbox and guitar= ix nothing seems like it should rely too heavily on gstreamer or on its usage = of orc's "just-in-time tools for compiling and executing simple programs that operate on arrays of data." Giving the other programs a chance to build on arm and mips I'm sure would be nice for their users. The best would, of course, be to test it, but otherwise it should be okay to go without it. --=20 Efraim Flashner =D7=90=D7=A4=D7=A8=D7=99=D7=9D = =D7=A4=D7=9C=D7=A9=D7=A0=D7=A8 GPG key =3D A28B F40C 3E55 1372 662D 14F7 41AA E7DC CA3D 8351 Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed on emails sent or received unencrypted --Sig_/YhkBogYwlJFsIw3.ffs8SuO Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQIcBAEBCgAGBQJW/WhJAAoJEPTB05F+rO6TDFkP/2ZLZyVLI1UZuhM+CR5pUvF3 GgbiSP52GeYjHE3kmqaMSs0ilgJZWOaqzBte/oVZ1WdBxNtN0LMQ2PcVZF7Yq+rV 6os0O3GE4qKjP+nM8i8GhMpXdvsJinS5E4m4WKVCw1k3N3OIV/nvrIk2ZPdfTbgo HKqJsxLkky2RFK0oFa9bV74CAioXD38AarBtXPU4PtXNG3cr3VrSYfMOvtun6AH2 vYm4E/PehXuUa/2OVRhMVy05CpDcA7t79NKKnXRvVyYmLXiC49qj9dXTsisBSNXR l44ZhLSc5FdgWk+BppJXmzjEPmqdIE9P3XUgsi5VoIVgsr+NhKwaD9RGcfwmCOU7 X+oDiB/9Us+Mi5DVJr+Q3rJ+dK2ErsGtX+8HH4dQmSjRxwsgsdWmKtx6Vw4Bchom br5Vp3i9wdkweBvHSszTmKvK3zuTR9JzFJaE6Xd4ClirRfy2H5T0rUtuxfME46PA WvLZy7pMdhE52Q+qVVrbES5ud2kPgz0WeEi8icsnr5Dzw3cbh9Zeusd5XUaG+FcJ nRrLZxmcQ59l13lkjy9yiXzOlfntMvcANDENIFgCW8FpbmekVcD5yesOaL/lfAft zIUlmQZzYqh9XEShXtWhSnTY/YB5wsvX5CINsmiIJHHAMwAOkuhW6YRt/kfFbmSe VDoZ2MFkN7ZB2YdNm3OU =qftl -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Sig_/YhkBogYwlJFsIw3.ffs8SuO--
