I've recently noticed a lot of source downloads from freedesktop.org
failing due to HTTP links being redirected to HTTPS.
Does anyone know if this is a new policy for freedesktop.org? If so, we
should just change all the package definitions to use HTTPS URLs.

In the meantime commit 5cc3096c changed those to use https, which was
necessary (otherwise GnuTLS is missing from the download derivations),
with the notable problem reported at <http://bugs.gnu.org/22774> (which
I would like to address after the release.)
