Was this using the 1.4 installer or the latest one?  If it was the
former, can you please try with latest?  I can spot a "write_wait_fd:
unimplemented" exception, which IIRC was fixed after the 1.4 release.
In any case, it was a transient error so you might want to retry
anyways.

Not sure what the issue is though, maybe someone else has a better idea?
These kinds of errors are usually transient, so you might have better
luck retrying with a manual install and pushing through when doing the
`guix system init` as a workaround for now.

I've been doing a normal install and just redoing the last step. Each 
time, I get a "substitute died" message.

I was able to install Guix using the latest ISO 
5c2fbcfcrwxwih9k2vdklhfx14ylv4jq-image.iso.
