Not true! pkgsrc runs on pretty much every posix-like operating system (GNU/Linux, Mac, Solaris, other BSDs, AIX, IRIX, HP-UX). (That said, I know other systems have their own packaging systems, and bootstrapping pkgsrc just to get a distfile is not a reasonable utility/effort tradeoff.)
