Hi all,
   this to announce guile spread:

        http://gna.org/projects/guile-spread/

--
This is a guile module that conveniently wraps the Spread C
libraries provided with the Spread 3.15.2 distribution. Spread is available at
http://www.spread.org/. Spread is a local/wide area group communication
toolkit that runs on most modern operating systems. It allows convenient
mechanisms for reliable multicasting information between applications as well
as providing many more complicate assurances.
--

thanks,

Interesting. Do you have any example applications using this?

Regards,

I saw that, but I think those are just tests for individual API calls,
aren't they? I was wondering if you had any complete programs.

     Neil

Maurizio,

I gave only a quick look at the Spread site; do you
think that it can be used for publish/subscribe systems?
And can it be run on handhelds?

Ciao

To be specific:

* a system that allows me to notify people in a
group or their software (on a private network)
about the availability of updates of a document,
like a spreadsheet; while the actual fetching of
the document and synchronisation with local
  documents is delegated to a different service;

* a service that allows me to notify to the group
when I am physically at the terminal, so that I
can do instant messaging (maybe Lotus Notes has
  something like this).

Marco

exaclty :) spread implement for you subscribe/send/multicast msgs
functions :) Obviously it's only a library, you should implement
a client/server program for your users :)
