Thanks!  Almost there...I need the attached patch.  Wondering why I need -L test-suite?

Also Not sure why the commenting-out of the make rule with only the
first line does not work for me.

    $ make --version
    GNU Make 4.2.1
    $ bash --version
    GNU bash, version 4.4.12(1)-release (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu)
