libguilegtk-1.2 is a good example, actually. It does not only provide
Scheme bindings to the Gtk+ toolkit, it also provides the fundamental
machinery for binding GtkObjects in general. Thus, it is directly
linked into libguilegnome and other libraries that provide glue for
things that are based upon GtkObject but are not included in the basic
Gtk+ package.

Making a distinction between 'normal' shared libraries and 'plugin'
libraries only complicates things. Still, you are free to turn your
extensions into plugins and pass a absolute file name to
'dynamic-link'.
