   it must invoke to actually return the RPC result over the network.

interesting, thanks for the pointer.

   I guess continuation-passing style could also be used to
   implement asynchronous calls on the client-side.

yes.  maybe i'll try that sometime.

   At any rate, this and your framework to handle the
   X protocol look cool!

thanks, i hope it can be fun for others to play with, as well.
