The GC code contains some references to a PROT386 preprocessor symbol.
Unless someone objects, I will junk this. The only reference I could
find to it is in the changelog (entry dated 1992).
By the by, there are also some references to UNICOS in the code. Is
anyone still using this system/port?

Yes, please remove them. I don't think we want to bother supporting
the 386 segmented model.
