As long as your tree was updated to that branch, then any commits
should go on the branch.  In case you don't already know, you can tell
if you're on the branch by looking at a file's status to see if
there's a sticky tag:

  cvs status ChangeLog | grep 'Sticky Tag:'
     Sticky Tag:          branch_release-1-6 (branch: 1.281.2)
