In the cvs, does scm_done_malloc accept negative sizes? It looks like
it might not, since it calls scm_gc_register_collectable_memory which
accepts only a plain unsigned size_t.
Would it be right (ie. compatible with past usage) to call the
"unregister" function for a negative?

Yes, that would be better. Could you make that change (if you haven't
already)?
