Agreed - modulo that sometimes complexity is useful/needed, and in
such situations it can be made acceptable by sufficient commenting.

I don't think the elisp support is complex, but I've made a note to
review it and add comments where that would be useful.

I'm afraid to say that I believe they are moving away from Guile. I
think their reasons are different, though: the (perceived) complexity
of the g-wrap workflow, and new core developers not liking Scheme as a
language.
