Hi Guys,

Please remember that there are systems out there still running
Guile 1.4 and haven't upgraded because there are issues with
newer sources. Please hold off removing interfaces for a decade
or so after deprecating them. Thank you. :) Regards, Bruce

Apparently, between guile 1.6.7 and guile 1.7.2, the guile headers no
longer define SCM_SUBSTRP, SCM_ROLENGTH, or SCM_ROCHARS. This breaks
compilation of autogen 5.7.3-pre4 when using the newer guile:

In file included from ag.c:2:
autogen.h: In function `ag_scm2zchars':
autogen.h:481: warning: implicit declaration of function `SCM_SUBSTRP'
autogen.h:482: warning: implicit declaration of function `SCM_ROCHARS'
autogen.h:482: warning: implicit declaration of function `SCM_ROLENGTH'
autogen.h:482: warning: passing arg 1 of `scm_makfromstr' makes pointer
from integer without a cast
