in list.c, many doc strings say
"Return a pointer to\n"
"the mutated list."
"Return a pointer to the last pair in @var{lst},"
isn't this stupid? Scheme doesn't have pointers. Why not say
"Return the last pair in lst"
"Return the mutated list."
