From a user's point of view, I have found they are all annoying with
flashing the top and bottom line of the screen more annoying than a
small square at the centre. Ideally I would like to see only the echo
area (or maybe the modeline) is flashing. I have adopted Miles Bader's
configuration (available on emacswiki) to only flash the echo area. The
idea is the text area where users input text should remain untouched by
visible-bell because it happens too often.
