You can also do, from ~/.xinitrc, something like

    eval `ssh-agent -s`

Everything started from ~/.xinitrc after that will know about the
ssh-agent.  (This only works if you shell is Bourne-ish.  If you have
a csh-like shell, use -c instead of -s.)
