I can see the CJK characters in CVS Emacs if I do the following: - $ uxterm -font '-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1' - $ emacs-cvs -nw -f gnus - Select your article (or one of the previous ones) ==> I see hollow boxes. - Do `M-x describe-char RET' [1] on the char. ==> The characters is displayed correctly in the *Help* buffer. - Go back to the Summary buffer and hit `g' ==> all chars in the article are displayed correctly. Maybe it is because of "charset=gb2312" instead of "utf-8"? Yes: | Message-ID: | Newsgroups: gmane.test ... is displayed correctly without a previous `M-x describe-char RET'. I don't know if this is a bug in CVS Emacs or if the user is supposed to initialize or setup something WRT "gb2312". If it is not the latter, I'll report it as a bug. Bye, Reiner.
