Most of the abilities are in the Emacs you are using, not in Gnus.

It will better in the next release. I can see the CJK characters in
CVS Emacs if I do the following:

- $ uxterm -font '-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1'

- $ emacs-cvs -nw -f gnus

- Select your article (or one of the previous ones) ==> I see hollow
  boxes.

- Do `M-x describe-char RET' [1] on the char. ==> The characters is
displayed correctly in the *Help* buffer.

- Go back to the Summary buffer and hit `g' ==> all chars in the
  article are displayed correctly.

Maybe it is because of "charset=gb2312" instead of "utf-8"? Yes:

| Newsgroups: gmane.test

... is displayed correctly without a previous `M-x describe-char RET'.

I don't know if this is a bug in CVS Emacs or if the user is supposed
to initialize or setup something WRT "gb2312". If it is not the
latter, I'll report it as a bug.

Bye, Reiner.
