I am using a ThinkPad X60 and whenever I press caps lock a small window pops up at the bottom right of the screen to tell me so. Emacs displays the desired behavior when I run Windows in Safe Mode, and whatever is displaying the caps lock notification window is off. Still, Emacs is the only program that seems to have trouble with this. -- Michael ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 9+ messages in thread

While trying to figure this problem out (which I have experienced for months), I seem to have fixed it. Don't know exactly what I did, but the most likely suspect is this: 1. Start ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility 2. Options... 3. Check Disable Keyboard Customizer 4. OK 5. Close 6. Start ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility 7. Options... 8. Uncheck Disable Keyboard Customizer 9. OK 10. Close I am asking what is causing the pop-up for future reference here: http://forums.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=74951 Since the problem now seems to be fixed, it seems you can mark this bug invalid. Thanks to the observation of Black Qin on the help-gnu-emacs list that this is triggered by scroll lock being on, I have tracked this down to an inapproptiate default value of w32-scroll-lock-modifier. Putting the following in your init file should fix the problem if you cannot update immediately: (setq w32-scroll-lock-modifier nil) ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 9+ messages in thread
