Nick, I know you can read C code, that's why I said what I said; sorry
if it sounded argumentative or offensive, but msdos.c does include
functions like `mouse_moveto(x,y)', `mouse_check_moved()', etc.  And
if you search for "highlight", you will find a full-blown support for
mouse highlight.
