It does on my system:

    `\sC'
	 matches any character whose syntax is C.  Here C is a character
	 that designates a particular syntax class: thus, `w' for word
	 constituent, `-' or ` ' for whitespace, `.' for ordinary
	 punctuation, etc.  *Note Syntax::.
