I've recently switched back to emacs21 from xemacs, for reasons I
won't go into here. The one thing I miss is the ability that gnuclient
gave to evaluate arbitrary lisp expressions. emacsclient only seems to
give the ability to open files. Is there a version of gnuserv.el which
works with emacs21?

I think that I am using the version from which seems to work well.

If memory serves then "gnudoit" provides the somewhat cheesily named
interactive to evaluate lisp.
Cheers

I'm sure there's a version of gnuclient/gnuserver that works with
Emacs-21, but in case you feel adventurous, the next Emacs release will
include such a feature directly in emacsclient. You can try it by
installing your Emacs directly from the CVS repository.
