Is it possible to select a date and then show the agenda for that day
with setting taken from org-agenda-time-grid?

I would try to start with something like

  (org-agenda-list nil (org-read-date))

Morning Mike,

I can select a date and get the week but the selected date does not expand
with the time grid and the appointments listed.

Sorry, I don't use the time grid.  Maybe someone else can help further?
