gnus for newsgroups - passwords

Our NNTP server may start to use "authentication", where I must enter
a user name and password to connect.  Does gnus support this?

Put this in ~/.authinfo:

machine YOUR.NNTP.SERVER login YOURLOGIN password YOURPASSWD

Or wherever you want your authinfo file  to be but then you will have to
tell gnus where to find it with this:
