Have you tried the patch I've checked in yesterday evening? It should
have solved this issue (I have seen it as well).
There is another weakness left: if you load dbus.el when D-Bus isn't
reachable (unsetting DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS, as you have done),
emacs is blocked again. I will work on this today.
