Hi,
after some experimentation I got the following results: The error
message 'No such article (may have expired or been canceled)' is sended,
if
1. the mail has the format 'html' or
2. the mail has an attachment.
However, the mails exist and even from the same sender I can load and
read the messages granted that there is no appendix.
I use GNU Emacs 26.2 (build 1, x86_64-suse-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version
3.24.8).
Best regards
Reiner Hellbrueck

Very odd. Do you have an Gnus customisations that are doing something
with multipart articles?

I couldn't see anything in the customisations about nnimap multiparts,
so it's probably not that, then.
What's your Emacs version on the OpenSuse and Ubuntu machines?

I use
emacs 26.2 on OpenSuse Tumbleweed and
GNU Emacs 25.3.5 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.24.30) of
2018-07-08 (self-compiled)
and
GNU Emacs 24.5.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.18.9) of
2017-09-20 on lcy01-07, modified by Debian
on an old Ubuntu machine, VERSION="16.04.6 LTS (Xenial Xerus)"; and gnus works with both,
Emacs 25.3.5 and Emacs 24.5.1.

OK, so basically Gnus in Emacs 26.2 doesn't work with your version of
Davmail, I guess, but older versions do work.
There was an IMAP parsing error that has been fixed in Emacs 27 that may
lead to the results you're seeing. Would it be possible for you to try
the development version of Emacs and see whether this fixes your issue?

Hi,
because of problems with openSuse I changed to ubuntu and even with
emacs 26 .3 everything works fine.
Best regards

Thanks for checking. As this seems to work fine now, I'm closing this
bug report.
