Whatever the reason for the "feature", it is IMHO completely broken as a user interface. For options like faces which are hidden initially (and other options where Luc pointed out my changes has problems because you need to hide them to be able to navigate the customize buffer), the user may easily hide such values for no other reason than "to hide it". -- Kim F.
