As mentioned on a previous message, the euro symbol shows correctly with
the DejaVu mono sans font. Notepad has no problem displaying it with
Courier New font (which is my default emacs font).

Emacs displayed the euro symbol until the transition to the new font
backend.

BTW, the problem occurs on my two windows machines: Windows 2000 SP4 and
Windows XP SP 2/3.
