Indeed, and that rings a vague bell...

*grepping happens here*

`mailcap-mime-extensions' has this mapping.  (Well, it goes the other
way around, but that's not really a problem.)  So writing a
MIME-type-to-action list based on `auto-mode-alist' should be trivial.
