The only thing that trips me up is this kind of phrase (from (info "(elisp)Coding System Basics") When you use =E2=80=98raw-text=E2=80=99 to encode multibyte text, it do= es perform one character code conversion: it converts eight-bit characters to their single-byte external representation. because I always forget that eight-bit characters have a multi-byte representation in the emacs-internal coding system.
