At the moment I use Magit and Projectile, which rely on version control to define the scope and contents of a project. I only bring this up to say tha= t I like "zero configuration", so that Emacs can be used to navigate projects without requiring the user to define those contents manually until they hav= e a special need that can't be inferred.
