This "let's deprecate cl" business is quite insane.  It has zero
benefits because the established names can't be used for new
functionality without breaking boatloads of code in the wild.  It
already breaks a lot of code and creates unnecessary work.  I'm
boycotting this madness until the maintainers come to senses.
