Subject: Re: Suppress export of Abstract block?

use a filter (http://orgmode.org/worg/exporters/filter-markup.html) and
set that text to be ""?

This will probably clobber all special blocks. If you have more than
one, you need to check if it is an abstract block somehow, and return
the text unaltered if it isnt.

This is untested ;)

(defun ox-mrkup-filter-abstract
   (text back-end info)
   "")

you will need a derived backend, maybe something like:

(org-export-define-derived-backend 'my-html 'html
  :filters-alist
  '((:filter-special-block . ox-mrkup-filter-abstract)))

Then run
(org-export-to-file 'my-html "html-marked.html")
