Subject: bug#5528: 23.1.92; Eshell: ls -l *
Date: Fri, 05 Feb 2010 12:49:19 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <m1tytvq240.fsf@cam.ac.uk> (raw)

I am confused by the following two different outputs.

In eshell, if I run 'ls -l', the user and group are shown as in this
example:
,----
| -rw-r--r-- 1 leo staff 559 May 22 2009 metapost.mp
`----
and the file name 'metapost.mp' is using eshell-ls-readonly face.

If I run 'ls -l *' instead, user and group id are shown as in this
example:
,----
| -rw-r--r-- 1 502 20 559 May 22 2009 metapost.mp
`----
and the file name 'metapost.mp' uses no faces.

So it seems there's a bug in eshell somewhere to make 'ls -l *'
inconsistent with what one gets when running it in terminal.
