If not we should fix it. I see your comments was based on the eldoc-post-insert-mode yes it updates only after insertion as the name suggests; but the problem you mentioned was real. We later changed it to use a heuristic approach by setting eldoc-message-commands. We could do better to detect real editing change if allowed to use after-change-functions. HTH, Leo
