Ok I understood why it does so, it was for every command waiting to growlnotify to finish, maybe in general it would be better to spawn a shell process without waiting for it. Another thing is that pre-command-hook is better, otherwise the command is shown too late. Last thing is that post-command-hook is modified globally but locally somewhere there is still that command in the hook, that's why it keeps getting crazy...
