Emacs -> Calendar/Diary -> Appointments and 
watch out for '*Note Customizing the Calendar and Diary:'

You can wrap up these things and run it regularly (e.g. once a day) with
'at' or as a cron job.

In case you want to know how I do this - just ask again.
