Until the release, please do not commit _anything_ to emacs-24 without
discussing it here first.

After the release, please follow the obvious policy:
commit to emacs-24 only bug/doc fixes that you are sure are totally safe.
Anything else, put it in trunk. If in doubt, ask here.

The emacs-24 branch is now available for any safe bug fixes that you
think should go into a 24.5 release (if there is one).
If you've committed any such things to the trunk, please consider
backporting them to emacs-24 (please put the word "backport" in the
commit log).

So, even after the release, is the emacs-24 branch only for bug-fixes?
Any non bug-fix changes should go solely in the trunk; is that right?

That's right: emacs-24 is now open for any bug-fixes, but only for
bug-fixes.
